Dr Goh Swee Heng is a Partner and Senior Consultant at Eye & Retina Surgeons, Camden Medical Centre. She is accredited to practice at as a consultant in ophthalmology at the Gleneagles, Mt Elizabeth and Mt Alvernia Hospitals. She is also the medical advisor to the Hainan Goh Clan Singapore since 1988. She helped the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation (Singapore Chapter) to set up the Eye Medical Department locally and remains as the consultant in charge of the Eye division of the TIMA (Tzu Chi Medical Association) overseas medical mission to Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
Dr Goh graduated from the National University of Singapore with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1976. In 1981, she was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ophthalmology) Edinburgh and the College of Ophthalmologists United Kingdom. She was awarded a Health Manpower Development Program scholarship to undergo a fellowship training in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery at the Moorfields Eye Hospital & Institute of Ophthalmology, London, UK (1986-1987). She completed her training and research under the tutorship of world renowned Oculoplastic surgeon Dr Richard Collins, Lacrimal specialist Dr Richard Welham and Orbital surgeon John Wright. She was made a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore in 1988. She was appointed consultant and head of the Oculoplastic Division at the Singapore General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1989 to 1990. She left for private practice but remained Visiting Senior Consultant to the Oculoplastic Service of the Singapore National Eye Centre from 1990 to 2008. In 2013, She received hands –on training in Micro-autologous fat transplantation (MAFT) for facial rejuvenation under the inventor of the MAFT gun Dr Lin TsaI Ming from Kaohsiung Taiwan.
She has organised and been either chairperson , invited speaker or instructor in several local and international meetings (Annual combined Surgical Meeting, SNEC Meeting, S’pore- Malaysia Joint Meeting, International Updates in Ophthalmology, International Congress of Ophthalmology, Asia-Pacific Congress Of Ophthalmology). She was involved in the basic training of medical students, ophthalmologists and advanced training of oculoplastic surgeons locally. She has published 20 articles on ptosis, dysthyroid eye disease, orbital tumours, socket abnormalities and correction of advanced lacrimal drainage obstruction. She was appointed a member of the Asia-pacific journal of Ophthalmology editorial board and has edited and reviewed many scientific papers and books. Dr Goh is a member of the Singapore Medical Association, Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and founding member of the Asia Pacific Society of Oculoplastic Surgery.
Dr Goh practices general ophthalmology, cataract surgery and sub-specializes in the functional, reconstructive and aesthetic correction of all lid, lacrimal and orbital problems. She has a special interest in the management of dysthyroid eye diseases, Orbital socket reconstruction, advanced lacrimal drainage problems, complex lid problems and Micro-autologous fat transfer for facial augmentation such as sunken upper lid sulcus, temples. |
