| ERS surgeons shine in San Diego at the annual meeting of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), 17-21 April 2015 |
The annual meeting of the ASCRS is one of the biggest gatherings of cataract and refractive surgeons in the world. They meet to exchange ideas, learn from each other, interact with industry and teach in order to deliver better care to their patients.
For many years now, surgeons from ERS Singapore have participated actively in the ASCRS where they have presented instruction courses, chaired sessions, produced award winning educational movies and lectured in symposia. This year, three of our surgeons participated, Dr Chan Wing Kwong, Prof Donald Tan & Dr Ronald Yeoh.
Prof Donald Tan was awarded the highest honour given by the ASCRS, a named lecture called the Binkhorst Lecture and Medal. This award is given out to one outstanding individual from anywhere in the world and Donald made us proud by being only the second Asian to receive it. His 30 min lecture was titled ‘Lamellar Surgery in Cornea Transplantation: Revolution and Evolution’ and was presented at the high profile main general opening session.
